Priyadarsini Govind is one of the foremost Bharatanatyam dancers, choreographers and educators in the world. Based in Chennai and a Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, she served as Director of the Kalakshetra Foundation from 2013 to 2017 and is celebrated for the emotional depth of her abhinaya and the precision of her nritta.
Priyadarsini Govind began Bharatanatyam at six and performed her arangetram at nine, training under Swamimalai K. Rajaratnam of the Vazhuvoor school and refining her abhinaya under Padma Bhushan Kalanidhi Narayanan. Over five decades she has performed and taught worldwide, directed the Kalakshetra Foundation, and received honours including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2012), the Kalaimamani and the Nritya Choodamani.

Govind is admired for her ability to sustain repose and tranquillity in solo dance while drawing out profound emotional depths, seamlessly blending tradition with subtle innovation. Trained in the Vazhuvoor school and in abhinaya under the legendary Kalanidhi Narayanan, she is regarded as one of the most complete Bharatanatyam artists of her generation.
