Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar is a leading Indian Dhrupad vocalist and a torch-bearer of the celebrated Dagar family, whose Dagar-vani lineage is traced back many generations to the roots of Hindustani music. The son of Ustad Nasir Faiyazuddin Dagar, he was awarded the Padma Shri in 2010.
Trained from the age of five by his father and uncle, the Junior Dagar Brothers, Wasifuddin Dagar gave his first public performance just days after his father's death, singing a duet with his uncle Ustad Zahiruddin Dagar. He has since toured solo across the world since 2000, performing at the UN, the Smithsonian, and leading universities and festivals, and recording internationally, sometimes with his cousin Ustad Bahauddin Dagar, sustaining one of Dhrupad's greatest lineages.
