Lalgudi G. J. R. Krishnan and Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi are a celebrated Carnatic violin duo, the son and daughter of the legendary violinist and composer Lalgudi Jayaraman. Trained by their father, they carry forward the melodious, gayaki-rich Lalgudi bani as leading violinists and composers.
Children and disciples of the legendary Lalgudi Jayaraman, G. J. R. Krishnan and Vijayalakshmi trained under their father and rose as leading Carnatic violinists in their own right, performing as a duo and preserving the Lalgudi bani. They perform at the Chennai December Music Season and major festivals in India and abroad, and steward their father's musical and compositional legacy.
