Bhuvanesh Komkali

Bhuvanesh Komkali is a Hindustani classical vocalist from Dewas, the grandson of the legendary Kumar Gandharva and son of Mukul Shivputra. Steeped from early childhood in a rich family tradition, he has become a respected concert artist known especially for his Kabir and saint-poetry themed programmes.

Born into the Komkali musical legacy, Bhuvanesh trained under his grandmother Vasundhara Komkali and Madhup Mudgal, deepening his appreciation of his forefather's art. He works to preserve and digitise Kumar Gandharva's archives, has composed for film, and performs to acclaim at reputed festivals across India, including collaborative Kabir and Tukaram programmes with vocalists such as Jayateerth Mevundi.

Having absorbed an enormous repertoire from childhood, Bhuvanesh Komkali sings khayal and the saint-poetry, especially Kabir, that his grandfather pioneered in classical music, insisting on understanding and conveying every word. He values the sanctity of the bandish and brings both classical purity and expressive clarity to his performances.
