The Story
OrganizerJazz Weekender was conceived in 2022 by a collective of Delhi's leading independent music platforms -- boxout.fm (Delhi's community-run online radio station, established 2017), Wild City (India's foremost electronic and alternative music platform) and Gatecrash, alongside Jazz in India. The inaugural three-day edition celebrated International Jazz Day with a mix of Indian and international artists. The venue choice -- 1AQ in Mehrauli, known for its Banyan tree canopy and outdoor event space -- gave the festival a distinctive aesthetic identity. The second edition in 2024 refined the format to two days and expanded the international roster to 15+ nationalities. The 4th edition in October 2025 featured artists including Mark de Clive-Lowe (New Zealand) and continued the festival's positioning as a boutique international jazz experience within a carefully curated cultural environment.
Jazz Weekender's significance is as the primary dedicated jazz festival in Delhi's contemporary music scene -- a genre that has historically been underserved by India's festival circuit despite a significant practitioner and audience base at institutions like the Global Music Institute. Its multi-organisation curation model (boxout.fm + Wild City + Gatecrash + Jazz in India) pools the most credible independent music platforms in Delhi into a single event, giving it curatorial authority that no single promoter could claim. Its international artist diversity (15+ nationalities) places Indian jazz practitioners in genuine global conversation.
One of Delhi's established annual jazz platforms, serving a small but sophisticated urban jazz audience in the capital.
