The Story
OrganizerIAWRT, founded internationally in 1926 and with an active India Chapter since 1958, has a long history of advocating for women in media. The Asian Women's Film Festival is the India Chapter's primary annual public-facing event, designed to give visibility to women filmmakers from across Asia who would not otherwise reach Indian audiences. The festival's Asia-wide scope makes it distinctive from domestic women's film platforms: it systematically brings films from South Asia, Southeast Asia, East Asia, and Central Asia to Delhi audiences, creating a pan-Asian feminist cinema dialogue.
One of India's oldest and most consistently programmed women's film festivals, with genuine Asia-wide scope. In a country where women filmmakers are underrepresented in mainstream festival programming, a dedicated platform with IAWRT's institutional backing provides consistent visibility.
One of India's few dedicated annual platforms for feminist and gender-focused cinema from across Asia, with IAWRT's decades-long institutional backing for women in media.
