Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar is a leading Hindustani classical vocalist of the Mewati gharana and the foremost disciple of Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj. An iconic singer of his generation in both classical and devotional music, he is celebrated for an exceptionally sweet voice and deep musicianship.
Born in 1969 in Pune, Sanjeev Abhyankar began learning at the age of eight, groomed by his mother Dr. Shobha Abhyankar, Pandit Gangadharbua Pimpalkhare of the Gwalior gharana, and above all by Pandit Jasraj of the Mewati gharana. He gave his first stage performance in Mumbai at eleven, won a National Award for playback singing, and across more than three decades has become one of the most popular and respected vocalists of his generation, performing worldwide.
