About

Parvaaz is an Indian rock band formed in Bengaluru in 2010, known for a soaring, atmospheric sound that fuses progressive and psychedelic rock with Kashmiri and Urdu lyrics and the imagery of Sufi and mystic poetry. Led by vocalist Khalid Ahamed, they are among the most critically acclaimed independent bands in India.

Formed in Bengaluru in 2010 by Khalid Ahamed and Kashif Iqbal, Parvaaz released the single Dil Khush (2011) and the EP Behosh (2012) before their debut album Baran (2014), which won wide critical acclaim for its fusion of Kashmiri and Urdu poetry with progressive rock. Over the following decade they toured extensively, refined their line-up, and became a fixture of the Indian independent scene, admired for both their musicianship and the literary depth of their songwriting.

The artistry

Parvaaz (the word means flight) builds expansive, guitar-driven soundscapes beneath Khalid Ahamed's Urdu and Kashmiri vocals, drawing on Sufi and mystic verse and the landscapes of Kashmir. Their music moves between delicate, poetic passages and towering, psychedelic climaxes, and their live performances have earned them a devoted following and a reputation as one of the finest bands of their generation.

⬩ Atlas Perspective

[Atlas Perspective] Parvaaz is a critical favourite and a benchmark for artistry in Indian indie rock, combining poetic depth with musical ambition. For festivals and events prizing artistic credibility and a devoted audience, they are a top-tier choice.

Parvaaz has shown how Indian-language songwriting, drawing on Kashmiri and Urdu Sufi and mystic poetry, can meet progressive and psychedelic rock at the highest level of craft. They are among the most respected bands of India's independent era and have widened the space for literary, regionally rooted rock.
