About

IndoSoul is a Chennai-based violin-fusion band led by the violinist and composer Karthick Iyer, known for bridging cultures by drawing out the deep commonalities between Indian and Western music. Blending Carnatic adaptations, original compositions and elements of film and pop, the band takes Indian melody to global audiences.

Karthick Iyer, an accomplished violinist who has played for film composers such as A.R. Rahman and collaborated with artists including Susheela Raman, Leslie Lewis, Hariharan and the Raghu Dixit Project on Coke Studio and BBC projects, built IndoSoul into one of Chennai's most popular fusion bands. Performing at music festivals, historic halls, sabhas, pubs, colleges and corporate events, and headlining college festivals, the band has become a well-known ambassador for accessible, violin-led Indian fusion.

The artistry

At the centre of IndoSoul is Karthick Iyer's violin, moving fluidly between Carnatic phrasing and contemporary, groove-driven arrangements, backed by guitar, mridangam, bass and drums. Their sound, soulful and fresh with an infectious live energy, reworks Carnatic pieces like Manavyala alongside originals and reinterpretations of film and western material, tailored for stages ranging from classical sabhas to festivals, colleges and corporate events.
