Bhoomi (meaning earth) is a Bengali urban-folk band based in Kolkata, formed in 1999. One of the bands that ignited the Bengali band-music and urban-folk movement, they fuse Bengali folk and Baul-rooted songs with contemporary band arrangements, and have been among the most popular live acts in Bengal for over two decades.
Formed in Kolkata in 1999, Bhoomi rode and helped create the wave of Bangla band music, quickly becoming hugely popular with a sound rooted in Bengali folk and Baul traditions but arranged for a contemporary band.
