Bhimrao Panchale is a Marathi ghazal singer and composer from Maharashtra, honoured as Ghazal Nawaz (Prince of Ghazals) for his exposition of the ghazal and its adaptation to the Marathi language. Since giving his first Marathi ghazal concert in 1972, he has been the leading figure in establishing the Marathi ghazal as a beloved musical form.
Born on 30 March 1951 in Amravati, Bhimrao Panchale trained for eight years in music, performed sugam sangeet across Maharashtra, and turned to Urdu and then Marathi ghazal, giving his first Marathi ghazal concert in 1972. Over more than five decades he built the Marathi ghazal into a recognised form, was felicitated for milestones including his sixtieth birthday and twenty-five years on stage, and in 2025 was chosen for the Gaan Samradnyi Lata Mangeshkar Award, Maharashtra's highest state music honour.

Panchale took the Urdu ghazal's form and feeling and rendered it in Marathi, setting the poetry of writers such as Suresh Bhat and Ilahi Jamadar to music and singing it in intimate mehfils and large concerts across Maharashtra. His singing pairs classical training and semi-classical polish with clear, emotionally resonant Marathi diction, making the ghazal accessible to Marathi audiences while preserving its depth.
