Vidushi Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar is a leading Hindustani classical vocalist whose training spans the Agra, Gwalior and Jaipur-Atrauli traditions. A two-time National Award winner, she is celebrated for the depth, purity and versatility of her singing across khayal, thumri, bhajan and Marathi music.
Arati Ankalikar-Tikekar began her training with the late Pandit Vasantrao Kulkarni of the Agra and Gwalior gharanas and went on to study with several great artists, most notably Gaanasaraswati Kishori Amonkar of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana. She has won two National Awards for her playback and classical singing and performs at leading festivals and venues across India and internationally, including 2025 concert seasons abroad.
The artistry
Ankalikar-Tikekar unites the rhythmic solidity of the Agra and Gwalior gharanas with the melodic subtlety of the Jaipur-Atrauli style she absorbed from Kishori Amonkar, producing singing of great emotional and technical range. Equally accomplished in classical khayal and in Marathi devotional and natya sangeet, she is admired as one of the most complete vocalists of her generation.
