About
Kanishk Seth is a Mumbai-based composer, producer, singer and songwriter, born into an illustrious musical family as the son of the singer Kavita Seth. He came to notice with Trance With Khusrow, described as one of the first Sufi-electronic albums, which set the thirteenth-century poetry of Amir Khusrau to trance and electronic textures and was nominated in the best fusion category at the Global Indian Music Academy Awards.
Seth reached a wide audience with Rangisari, co-created with his mother, which went viral and was later featured in the film Jug Jugg Jeeyo. He has composed and produced for films including Kesari Chapter 2, appeared on Coke Studio Bharat with the track Re Mann alongside Shreya Ghoshal, and leads the Kanishk Seth Trio in live performance, blending Sufi, folk and electronic music with poetry-led lyrics.
The artistry
Seth works at the meeting point of Indian classical and Sufi vocals and electronic production, layering trance, ambient and lounge textures under poetry-led melodies. As a producer he shapes immersive soundscapes, and as a performer he leads a trio that reworks heritage material for the stage.
Seth offers a host a contemporary Sufi-electronic set with his trio, or a collaborative performance drawing on his family's Sufi repertoire. Strong for festivals and younger, cross-genre audiences. [Atlas Assessment]
