The Story

Organizer

Long envisaged as a home for the heritage of Indian cinema, the museum was developed by the Films Division and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and inaugurated in 2019 in the historic Gulshan Mahal, a nineteenth-century bungalow, alongside a purpose-built modern block. Its galleries chart the birth of Indian film, its technological and artistic evolution, and the many regional industries that make up one of the world's great cinematic cultures.
