The Story
OrganizerFounded in 1964, the NFAI set out to collect, preserve and document India's rapidly disappearing film heritage, building a vast archive of films and cinema material and undertaking restoration of classic works. Long a cornerstone of film scholarship and education in Pune, it has been integrated into the National Film Development Corporation.
The NFAI is the guardian of India's film heritage, preserving and restoring the country's cinematic legacy and underpinning the study, teaching and celebration of Indian cinema.
