City Palace Museum, Udaipur

The City Palace was built and extended by successive Maharanas of Mewar from the sixteenth century onward, becoming one of the largest palace complexes in Rajasthan. In 1969 parts of it were opened as a museum under the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, preserving the dynasty's collections and the palace's own art and architecture, and making the courtly heritage of Mewar accessible to the public within its original setting.
