The Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha Sabha is a leading cultural sabha in Mumbai, founded in 1952, dedicated to promoting Carnatic and Hindustani classical music and classical dance. Presenting the country's foremost artists through concerts and festivals, running a music school, and operating one of the largest auditoria in Asia at Matunga, it is the premier home of Indian classical music in the city.
Founded in 1952 by members of Mumbai's south-Indian community to sustain Carnatic music in the city, Shanmukhananda grew into one of India's great sabhas, building a vast auditorium that became a landmark venue for music, dance and public events, and a music school that trained young artists, while presenting generations of the country's leading classical musicians.
