The Kanoria Centre for Arts (KCA) is a pioneering non-profit institution and multifunctional art centre in Ahmedabad, founded in 1984 by Urmila Kanoria with the support of the Pritzker-laureate architect B. V. Doshi, who designed its campus, and the Ahmedabad Education Society. One of the earliest artist studios and residency spaces in India, its inaugural stone was laid by M. F. Husain, and figures such as Bhupen Khakhar, Piraji Sagara and Geeta Kapur helped shape it. It facilitates the production, display and education of the arts, hosting studios, residencies, exhibitions and workshops.
Established in 1984 by Urmila Kanoria, a philanthropist with a deep commitment to the arts, and designed by B. V. Doshi, the Kanoria Centre became one of India's first dedicated artist residency and studio spaces, nurturing generations of artists. Enriched by the involvement of leading figures of modern Indian art, and visited over the years by dignitaries and cultural figures, it grew into a distinguished self-sustaining art institution and a landmark of Ahmedabad's rich modern-art ecosystem.
