JSW Foundation is the social-development and philanthropic arm of the JSW Group, chaired since the 1990s by Sangita Jindal, one of India's most prominent patrons, philanthropists and collectors of art. Alongside its community-development programmes, the Foundation has made a significant contribution to India's artistic, cultural and architectural heritage, supporting numerous art and heritage projects at home and internationally. In 2024 it launched Hampi Art Labs, a nine-acre art residency and exhibition space near the World Heritage site of Hampi, designed to nurture artists globally and engage local artisan communities.
Under Sangita Jindal, whose taste for modern and contemporary art was shaped by her mother Urmila Kanoria, founder of the Kanoria Centre for Arts in Ahmedabad, the JSW Foundation grew into a major force in Indian cultural philanthropy over three decades. It has supported art, heritage conservation and living artists through numerous initiatives, long backed the Art India magazine, and, with the opening of Hampi Art Labs, created a landmark residency and exhibition space that marks a new chapter in its support for the country's arts ecosystem.
